Music and Photography
What kind of music influences your art?
While talking over printing cyanotypes, my friend and colleague Luanne DeMeo and I found out that we both loved to print to the music of Eric Satie. Among his works, our mutual favorite was Gymnopédie No. 1.
Fast-foward to a few months later to my M.F.A. thesis show, Boy, Owl, and Raven at Whitespec gallery in Atlanta. Turns out a faithful YouTuber uploads videos of Whitespec's shows and sets them to music. The music chosen for my show, without any input from me at all, was Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1.
Fate? Kismet? Affirmation from the Universe? Or maybe it was just plain coincidence. Either way, it felt perfect.
